Looking Through Windows at WinHEC

What to look for at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference in Los Angeles.

By the time you read this, I should be on the way to the WinHEC (Windows Hardware Engineering Conference) at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

While a lot of the WinHEC show should interest network and infrastructure engineers (I mean, who else watches their Windows Update lists for Exchange Server 2007 updates?), there should also be some news for everyday computing fans like me and you.

Bill Gates' keynote address on Tuesday is likely to be a smidge less lively than ones from CES past (Conan O'Brien?), however millions of dollars and a many hours of Windows developers' time and effort go into the products people use every day. Look for a clarification of the Windows Home Server environment, more news about the acceptance (however lackadaisical) of Windows Vista, and news about other consumer-oriented Windows products.

Stay tuned for daily updates including a keynote wrapup.
