Roku Internet video box adds live baseball feed

(AP) -- Roku says its pioneering Internet video set-top box is adding its first live feed, from Major League Baseball.

The move brings the $100 Player closer to duplicating the benefits of a cable subscription.

It comes with a remote and connects to a TV set, linking it to the Internet. When it launched last year, it played only streaming movies from Inc. It later added Amazon.com Inc.'s movie rentals.

On Thursday, Saratoga, Calif.-based Roku Inc. said MLB.com's Premium subscribers will be able to watch out-of-market games live, and local or other nationally televised games about 90 minutes after they end.

MLB's Premium subscribers have already been able to watch those games on a computer. There's also an application for the service. Membership costs $35 a year.
